This is a fun, savory take on the classic “Ants on a Log.” These cheesy celery sticks are a perfect appetizer or after-school snack, sure to delight both kids and adults.

Ingredients

  • 4-6 celery stalks
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese or cheese spread (like a garlic and herb cream cheese)
  • 2-3 sticks of string cheese, or a handful of small cheese cubes

Tools

  • Knife
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the celery. Wash the celery stalks thoroughly and pat them dry. Trim off the ends and cut the stalks into 3-4 inch long pieces.
  2. Fill the ‘log’. Use a spoon or a knife to fill the hollowed-out curve of each celery piece with cream cheese or your chosen cheese spread.
  3. Add the ‘worms’. Carefully pull apart the string cheese sticks into long, thin strips, or use a few small cheese cubes. Arrange the cheese strips or cubes on top of the cream cheese in each celery piece to look like worms.
  4. Serve. Arrange the “Cheesy ‘Worms’ on a Log” on a platter and serve immediately.
