These adorable and delicious treats are a fun and spooky dessert for any occasion. They’re simple to make and perfect for getting into the festive spirit.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 1 (12-ounce) bag of white chocolate chips or candy melts
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or mini chocolate chips
Tools
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Microwave-safe bowl or double boiler
- Spoon
- Small piping bag or a toothpick
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberries. Wash the strawberries thoroughly and pat them completely dry. Make sure they are very dry, as any water will cause the chocolate to seize.
- Melt the chocolate. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips or candy melts in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, you can use a double boiler on the stovetop.
- Create the ‘ghosts’. Holding a strawberry by its green leafy top, dip it into the melted white chocolate, covering the entire berry. Lift the strawberry out of the chocolate and let the excess drip off. As you set it down on the parchment-lined baking sheet, let a bit of the chocolate pool at the bottom to create a ghostly “tail.”
- Add the ‘eyes’. While the white chocolate is still wet, place two semi-sweet chocolate chips onto the strawberry to create the eyes.
- Let them set. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
- Serve. Serve your “ghosts” and enjoy!
