This “poison” apple punch is a fun and spooky drink for a Halloween party, and it’s super simple to make with kids. The “poison” effect is created with a little food coloring, and the kids will love watching it transform.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (64-ounce) bottle of green apple juice (or regular apple juice with green food coloring)
  • 1 (2-liter) bottle of ginger ale or sparkling cider, chilled
  • 1 (12-ounce) package of gummy worms or other spooky candies
  • A few drops of black or green food coloring (for the “poison” effect)
  • Dry ice (optional, for a smoky effect – this should only be handled by an adult!)

Instructions:

  1. Safety First: If you’re using dry ice, an adult should handle it with gloves and tongs. Never let children touch it directly.
  2. In a large punch bowl or pitcher, have your kids pour in the apple juice. If you’re using plain apple juice, let them add a few drops of green food coloring and stir until it’s a vibrant, spooky green.
  3. Slowly pour in the chilled ginger ale or sparkling cider.
  4. Toss in a handful of gummy worms or other spooky candies to float in the punch.
  5. This is the magic part! To create the “poison” effect, add a few drops of black or more green food coloring and let the kids watch it swirl and mix on its own.
  6. If using dry ice, an adult can carefully place a small piece in the corner of the punch bowl. It will create a low-lying fog effect that adds to the creepy atmosphere.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your spooky concoction!

Kid’s Corner:

  • Pouring: They can help pour the apple juice and ginger ale into the bowl.
  • Stirring: If you’re using food coloring, they can help stir it in.
  • Garnishing: Adding the gummy worms is a fun and easy task.
  • Watching: They’ll be fascinated by the color change and the dry ice “fog” (from a safe distance!).
